PENOLA 'ROYAL' SHOW
MOST OF US HAVE BEEN TO THE BIG CITY SHOWS
WHERE COUNTRY FOLK EXHIBIT THEIR PRIZE
ANIMALS & PRODUCE AND COMPETE IN EVENTS
LIKE EQUESTRIAN & WOOD-CHOPPING ALONG WITH
SIDE-SHOW ALLEY .........
BUT HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT ABOUT GETTING
OUT OF THE CITY FOR A FEW DAYS TO EXPERIENCE
THE FUN OF A COUNTRY SHOW ?
WELL ... HAVE YOU ?
Friday 29th October --- Saturday 30th October
Dates to be confirmed
This year the Show will feature the traditional ingredients of a 'Royal' Country Show, with some novel additional events.
While Scotland and Ireland feature the 'Caber', 'Hammer Throwing' and 'Tug O War' along with Highland Dance competitions at their country shows, the Penola Show has highlights of it's own.
Last year's 'Sheaf Tossing' was an amasing feat and when local tossing legends like 'Blue' and 'Heathers' got the pitch -fork in their hands ...... the locals went wild cheering for their hero's.
Records went tumbling in 2009 ...... the local boys will need to be bigger tossers this year to fend off newcomers.
$1000 is up for grabs if you can exhibit the grand champion rose. If you think you are the ultimate 'green fingers' then here's the chance to prove yourself and pick up the cash to make it all worth while.
Get yourself out into the country air and enjoy all the fun that comes naturally to country people; like chatting to the neighbours, displays by school children, competative events including horses, yard dogs and cattle.
Ever wondered how much fun it is for the local community ?
Well get yourself organised because it will be here in no time and don't make an excuse and stay home wondering !
You know, while you're here you can also visit a
couple of the fabulous Coonawarra Vineyards and
pick up some of the best reds in the world.
